Florida catch — huge!

Read all the exciting details of this big fish story below.

When: Friday, June 19, around 1:30 p.m.

Who: Chip Temple, 33, of Stockbridge, Georgia along with fellow mates Mark Wallace, Ed Gobel, Matt Pearson, and captain Tommy Braden

WhereJasper Time, a 60-foot Hatteras anchored 120 miles off Florida’s Sandestin shore

Why: The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic

What: A record-breaking, tournament-winning 714.7-pound blue marlin

How: Temple hooked the fish on a 200-pound leader set for tuna which, in turn, forced the crew to play give-and-take all day until the marlin finally wore out. The battle took eight hours, with the crew finally pulling the monster marlin on board at 9:30 p.m. After a 12-hour ride back to shore, the anglers could finally relish their victory.

The fish shattered the tournament’s 2006 record of 692.6 pounds.
