Lifetime Licenses — Worth the Money?

IdahoTyler Caine, Jr. just made the deal of a lifetime, literally. According the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the Boise native is now the proud owner of a lifetime hunting license — at only 5 months-old.

Well, obviously, his family made the purchase for him, but one day the young boy will be extremely grateful for the gift. As long Tyler stays an Idaho resident, once he reaches 10 years of age he can hunt without having to buy another license for the rest of his life.

Idaho Uses Decoys to Deter Poaching

Hunters, beware. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is using decoys to keep you accountable. “They have been readily accepted by the courts as a legitimate tool for use by wildlife law enforcement officers to deter illegal behavior,” says Idaho Fish and Game. “All across Idaho they are used throughout the year, in a wide variety of situations.”

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but after reading the article from Idaho Fish and Game, I actually think the department is providing an admirable and proactive solution to illegal hunting.

How to Bear-Proof Your Home

Many people are aware of the need to properly store their food while camping, but few realize the importance of using some of the same practices at home. According to Idaho Fish and Game, home owners in bear country should exercise caution this fall when it comes to disposing of their garbage

The department has provided a few tips to ensure no unwanted guests are welcoming themselves to your leftovers, citing that they’ve even had to relocate several bears during the past few weeks that had grown accustomed to foraging for garbage and scraps. Idaho: Fishing Guide Fail

Earlier this month, a 26-year-old Idaho man was convicted of illegally guiding anglers on the South Fork of the Boise River, after officials saw the man’s advertisement for illegal services on Craigslist.org. Yes, you read that correctly. The man actually advertised his illegal services on the Internet.

According to Idaho Fish and Game, officers were alerted to the Internet advertisement in early July. Later, the phony guide was arrested while guiding clients on the South Fork. His fishing gear, including a Hyde drift boat and fly rod and reel were seized as evidence in the case.
