WDFW Puts Poachers in Prison

The last member of a poaching gang known as “Kill ‘Em All Boyz” has finally been convicted and sentenced, bringing an extensive undercover investigation by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to a close.

On October 13, gang ringleader Micky Ray Gordon appeared in court and plead guilty to charges against him.  Gordon was fined, sentenced to 13 months in prison, and had his hunting license suspended for five years.

The gang’s other three members have already been tried and convicted.  Each will serve jail time and, including Gordon, combined for nearly $10,000 in fines.  The men are all from Longview.

Acting on an informant tip, the WDFW’s Statewide Investigations Unit infiltrated the gang and then, following a seven-month undercover investigation which included documenting all illegal activity, law enforcement arrested its four members and proceeded to prosecute.

WDFW says without the tip they would have never known of the poaching ring, and added, “Poaching occurs in our state that we never hear about.  But with one person’s help, we were able to stop an operation that was doing a lot of damage to both wildlife and private property.”
